About:
At Atitlan Organics, we practice Small-Scale, Highly-Diversified, Super Low-Input, Direct-to-Consumer, Downright Ninja Farming. We believe that farming should be Profitable and Fun. While we always
keep our eye on local markets and bottom lines, our farm foundations lie
in diversified edible landscapes, open-pollinated seeds, perennial
crops, and traditional breed animals, as well as farm-produced
fertility, compost teas, and homeopathic preparations. Our Three Areas of Activity
- Profitable Farming:
Growing and selling healthy, nutritious food that heals our bodies and
our land. Beyond our own production, we are actively working to build a
cooperative of local growers that all sell under one brand name.
- Biodiversity:
Collecting, testing, propagating, and disseminating potentially useful
and nutritious plants to communities in the Western Highlands of
Guatemala.
- Training and Education:
Our focus is on Leap-Frogging the centralized, energy-intensive food
systems of developed nations and moving into a new future, comprised of
many small, decentralized, but globally aware, local growers and local
markets.
