Information about Wooden Rooster Ranch: On our farm, we have a very productive organic orchard and vegetable garden.  Apples, pears, cherries, plums, blueberries, strawberries, grapes, and delicious peaches abound. We raise and keep goats for milk, llamas for fiber, and chickens for eggs.  We also raise rabbits and broiler chickens for meat.  At the moment, we are looking for a breeder pair of pigs. Some of the activities and interests of my partner and I are animal husbandry, working with our herding dogs, farming, horticulture, herbalism, wildcrafting herbs and mushrooms, food preservation (canning, drying, etc.) alternative energy and building systems, and self-sufficiency, and sustainable living.  We are also expecting a baby soon, and are looking forward to that adventure. The 20 acres upon which we live are gorgeous and secluded.  The property is backed up to many thousands of acres of national forest.   The town of Happy Camp is a short drive away- around 15 minutes.  In town, there are restaurants, a grocery store, a post office, several motels, a Napa, a hardware store, and several others.   We are looking for individuals who have experience on an organic farm, preferably have worked with animals, and are comfortable living in a household with a young infant.  Experience with fruit trees is a plus. We desire volunteers who are flexible to the varying tasks on a homestead. We are inviting visitors for short periods of time only- a few days to a week.  A stipend can be negotiated based on length of stay and hours of contribution.  This will very likely depending on the season. We are not taking visitors during the winter. We would prefer an individual, as our space is not quite ready for more than one volunteer at a time. My husband and I have wonderful, transparent communication, and want to maintain a space that is really uplifting and positive.  We ask that all individuals be emotionally healthy, have great communication skills, and be free of drug addiction.  We accept ganja smoking, but only in a responsible way.  Alcohol is also accepted, however heavy drinkers need not inquire. Visitors to the farm must be in good health- physically, emotionally and spiritually. A person who wants to come out to Wooden Rooster Ranch can expect the following:  - a furnished bedroom in our lovely, newly remodeled home; -3 nourishing, organic meals each day;  -an atmosphere of honest, loving communication -a great work environment with lots of room to learn about homesteading or farming life.
