GROWING FOOD, GROWING A LIFE, GROWING RESILIENCE!
Titanic Lifeboat Academy is a 501c3 non-profit research & education center offering the chance to grow your life while you learn to grow food. Nature is the supreme teacher. We are experienced guides with hundreds of resources to help each Intern learn.
Our 3-week Internships include a curriculum which goes far beyond farming or homesteading to examine how - and why - to make this lifestyle work. We adapt our coursework to each individual's needs, experience, skills and goals. Hands-on work blends with reading and documentaries, internet research and writing - all of which inform the hands-on work and increase the depth of learning.
TLA is located on a 3-acre self-reliant homestead in northwest Oregon, where we have been deeply involved in the community and a process called "relocalization". Goats, a driving horse, chickens, ducks, greenhouses, orchards, gardens, renewable energy, rainwater catchment and much more provide a rich learning experience.
We recently added a second campus at the 160-acre farm in New England where one of our Board members lives off-grid, working the farm with draft horses, maple sugaring in spring, and raising a family.
We welcome your application at Lifeboat Academy (at) aol (dot) com. Please understand that we take only one
intern at a time, per campus, (exception: couples) so if you have a
particular month in mind, please apply as early as you can. If you are farm-hopping, this is probably not the best fit for your purposes. This is an intensive
3-week (sometimes longer) experience.
You must be prepared to grow more than food: you must be prepared to
grow personally, to really push the envelope.
