Frosty Morning Farm is a small scale bio-intensive, two acre organic vegetable and herb farm. Our farm is within Common Place Land Cooperative, an 432 acre intentional community in Central NY, on the south slope of Morgan Hill. Common Place is a community land trust of 13 households (20 adults and 4 children}. Our farm is our family's operation, with a small CSA. We have a perennial and herb nursery, a shitake mushroom operation, and we also do cut flowers. We sell at a local farmer's market, and a few other places. We have two Halflinger horses that we use for some of the farm work. The rest of the work is done with a rototiller or by hand. We don't have a tractor. We raise livestock and have a small herd of dairy goats. We also raise rabbits for our family's meat and poultry for eggs and meat and sometimes a goat or two for meat. We do our own butchering on the farm. We make various products like goat's milk soap, medicinal herbal extracts, lotions and salves and massage oils. We're into seed saving and breeding and do lots of hand pollinating in August. We have a fruit tree orchard and raise small fruit. We do lots of herb drying, canning and wine making and we love to cook. Food is our major focus. We can accommodate volunteers for short periods, like two to three weeks. We also sometimes have volunteers stay for longer periods. We provide a large platform tent with a mattress for the warmer months and we have an indoor space for the colder months. Meals are prepared and shared together. We love to teach and want to share what we know. We work hard, but we also like to socialize, make music, and eat good food. Our house is solar powered and off the grid. We have an outdoor composting toilet. (and it works!)
