el Rancho del Cielo is a micro raw milk goat dairy located in SW Colorado, 30 mi south of Durango, in the high desert. In addition, I am experimenting with alternative dryland crops including heirloom bean varietals and potatoes that will enable the farm to meet the changing conditions presented by global warming. With the high price of fuel, buying local becomes more important in community sustainability. The farm is a member of a farm cooperative that promotes local meat and dairy.  Milk and artisanal cheese are available through a goat share program.  Churro sheep have been reintroduced to the farm recently.

I would like one or two farmers who would be interested in learning goat husbandry and/or cheese production. Minimum 1 month commitment.  There is a furnished airstream available for living quarters. Room and board is provided for a 20 hour work week which would involve at a minimum feeding and milking.  An additional stipend may be available for additional hours.
