We are a Yoga and Meditation Retreat Center in northern California, with 2 wooded acres of organic medicinal and culinary herbs, vegetables, fruit trees, flower gardens, greenhouses, waterfalls, and koi ponds. We are working towards urban self-sufficiency. You will be helping with a variety of tasks: landscaping, planting, weeding, harvesting, composting, pruning, and helping to create a serene and natural, yet well-maintained environment. You may also participate in caring for and milking dairy goats, cheese-making and soap-making. In addition to your time in the garden, you may also participate in Hatha yoga, tai chi, meditation classes, and weekly gatherings. People interested in self-realization and spiritual life will enjoy the atmosphere. The Center has no smoking, drinking, drugs, or meat on the premises; vegetarian meals are provided.
[Location: 12 miles from Sacramento, 2 hours from Lake Tahoe and San Francisco]

Hi, I am not sure if you are currently looking for help but I am very interested in volunteering on your farm. I have a small dog I am hoping I will be able to bring with me. I would be available beginning of August.

I volunteered at Lotus Garden Meditation Center for 2 weeks in June of 2009. The people were great and I felt at home in their family atmosphere. I learned a lot and hope to return next summer to help them out some more.
