Live in your own cozy wood-heated yurt on our beautiful, quiet farm, an hour, including ferry ride, from Seattle. Lots of hands on instruction and responsibility in all aspects of the farm’s operation. Optional readings, field trips, research, and directed self-study projects, as desired. The two women farmers have offered our apprenticeship for over a decade and have developed a vibrant, well- respected, and, in many cases life-changing opportunity for those who come to work alongside us. We particularly encourage those interested in starting their own sustainable, diverse small farms to apply. Many of our former apprentices are now successful growers, building on our creative model of niche marketing and the authenticity of our growing practices. We strongly believe that each year’s group of apprentices is our most important crop, as they take their season of learning with us out into the world to affect positive change.

Hi my name is Ray. I don't if working on an organic farm is enough to call yourself an organic farmer, but I'd like to think all involved are. I am from Illinois(worked for 6 months on an organic farm there and loved it), but am currently in Southern California. Neither for business nor pleasure, for there is a lack of both here at the moment. I can't promise that I'll go straight to opening my own farm as soon as my internship ends, for I am twenty years old and do not possess such foresight. I can't even tell you what I might be doing months from now, weeks even. I can, however, promise that I am healthy, open-minded, and can not imagine at this point in my life anything I'd rather do as a means of sustaining myself than working in the field of organic farming. Seems like on of the few truly natural occupations left in the world. I'd love an opportunity to be an intern on your farm. Also if you could use more than one set of hands, I know someone whom I trust and work well with and, in my honest opinion, would be a valuable asset to any farm. Please email me at huffmanray@live.com. Thanks, Ray

This farm offers a FABULOUS apprenticeship program! My husband and I began the growing season as complete novices and we learned more than we could have possibly imagined: Rebecca and Louisa were tireless in answering questions and showing us all the ways they achieve the success they have had in biodynamic farming. They provide excellent instruction on how the market side of the business as well: each weekend, one of the four apprentices heads to the Bainbridge Farmers Market with Rebecca. You get to see the ins and outs of the business throughout the entire growing season (an awesome eight months!) Their love and passion for growing is quite contagious and the depth and breadth of their knowledge is... awesomely deep! On top of that, they are just neat people!
