Market garden in Sierra foothills (1700' elevation) that has practiced organic methods since 1993, sells at two local farmers markets and to csa subscribers; also belongs to an association of local producers, Mother Lode Harvest, and sells through that organization. Certified Naturally Grown. Range of vegetables, fruit, nuts and eggs produced in season. 10 acres next to village of Fiddletown, in rural area that was center of the gold rush, now has small towns and wineries.
Interns are invited to stay for two to six weeks to help with work on the farm and learn the basic skills and techniques of organic methods--and, if you are interested, marketing and planning. Meals provided and tent on platform near house. Interns are expected to work 4-6 hours a day, 5 days a week. Internships are available May through September.
