Our farmstead is located on 26 acres, 1/3 is a mountain top vista pasture with a spring fed pond and 2/3 sloped hardwood forest, surrounded by large property owners. Here we are in the process of building a small family farm, one that is open to communal living. My wife and I have spent almost a decade traveling the country working for small family farms, environmental education non-profit organizations and natural building communities. Our dream was to learn the skills so that one day we could settle down and develop an organic farm here in NW Arkansas.  3 years ago we found our mountain top oasis nestled along the edge of the Ozarks, 3 miles outside of the country town of Kingston.  In the time since we have built our family house and gardens, and are now looking for an individual or couple  who want to help with the maintenance in exchange for room and board in our guest housing.  This would be a private 8x30 Spartan trailer with a covered porch facing the view of the valley.  It has electricity, wood stove, living room, kitchen and bedroom space.  We'd happily pay to fix it up more to accommodate the comforts of someone who wishes to stay longer term. Our current projects include tending to the gardens, building of a shop between the house and trailer, extending the porch roof over the trailer for more weather protection,  and installing rainwater catchment off all of the buildings.  The ideal community member(s) would be someone who lives simply, drama-free, and self motivated with a good work ethic.  We won't ask for more than a few hours a day of work dedicated to the land and then the rest of the time is yours to do as you wish.  There is a library with internet down the hill in Kingston (gas station, cafe and shops).  And we have access to canoes for floats along the Kings River or Buffalo River.  Additionally there are dozens of awesome swimming holes and hiking trails in our area.  Please contact us via email if you are interested in coming out.  Include a few paragraphs about yourself, your interests, experience and what you are looking for in a farm stay.  We will send you more photographs and details upon request.
