life is not always, if ever, predictable. A simple visit to the doctor last February turned into a complicated first step into a journey I was not quite prepared for. Sandystokes Farm is now up for sale. I am listing the property at $250,000 with little room for negotiating. This is a very special place and I am confident that the right person will read this and what is meant to be will happen. I am sad to have to leave but my time left in this lifes journey is questionable and I have chosen to travel with my two crazy dogs and spend more time writing and capturing images. I am leaving my original intent for the farm intact with the knowledge that someone else will bring their own dreams here. This house and land is perfect for going off the grid, organic farming, a small retreat or simply retiring out away from the chaos of the world around us. Sandystokes Farm is a new endeavor with the long term goal of developing a self sustaining organic farmstead that is also a health and retreat center. This first year, 2012, is going through the usual growing pangs of putting in the initial infrastructure and equipment needed. Some food production will be done this first year but will not be accepting students or help until spring.
Located on the middle fork of the Saline river near Jessieville Arkansas USA, this 10 acres is a remarkable spot seemingly made just for the outlined purpose. Fertile soil, lots of water, beautiful views and wildlife mark this farm as a living entity begging for love and care which it has not had in many years. It sits 5 miles off of the main highway with the only access being through world famous Mountain Valley Water property. There are no other private land holders on this road giving the place a feel of total isolation. Sandystokes is located 1.5 hours from Little Rock Airport and just 20-30 minutes from historic Hot Springs Ar.
There is a newer 1800 sq ft house being remodeled at the time of this writing, a small efficiency apartment and plans to put in 2-3 basic small cabins. Acommodations and food will be provided for guests once geared up in 2012. What Sandystokes wants are those interested in working in harmony with the earth in all phases of growing caring for and harvesting naturally grown foods. A portion of the production here will be distributed to folks, at cost, that cannot always afford to pay the high prices grocery stores demand for their less than nutritious mass produced vegetables. So you may be asked to deliver some produce to areas in and around Hot Springs Ar. Socialization, sharing meals and ideas for future sustainability will be exchanged.
