PLEASE INQUIRE BY EMAIL
This Is Who We Are
Harmony Homestead Farm is a 100 acre retreat farm on a dead end gravel road in the hills of southwest Vermont. Our mission is to produce organically grown food as our part of our local community/economy and to share this beautiful property through mentorship, farm based education and agri-tourism. We are committed to living, learning and teaching sustainable living and doing our little part at making the world a better place. We grow a diverse array of vegetables with the best organic growing practices available to us. We distribute to our CSA, local farmers markets and occasionally we sell from our own mobile farm stand.
<br /><br />
The farm is a rustic sustainable homestead built primarily with reclaimed buildings and materials and is very much still in the making. We work with our hands and feet in the dirt yet we do have some modern day farm equipment, none-the-least of which includes a tractor, sawmill and dump truck. We have two draft horses, Queenie, a Belgian and Avalon, a black Percheron. Sharing pasture with them are Streak and Avalanche, exceptionally furry llamas this year since we allowed them to keep their coats last spring. We also have a couple of Oberhasli goats, likely a new flock of laying hens to occupy the chicken house and..... we will be whelping puppies this April. We breed AKC registered Vizsla dogs and recently tried out Grace on her first breeding experience by matching her up with Duke, a handsome dog-dude from Charlotte North Carolina. Gail is a licensed nurse and works off the farm part time. Paul is a musician and music teacher. Music and art are important threads in the fabric of our farm community.
Opportunities - This Is What’s Going On This Year
As a working homestead, we work on farm infrastructure at the same time that we operate as a living, breathing, nurturing farm. Three main agenda items will be in focus this year.
1.) Gardening- We prepare, plant, grow and harvest to fulfill our part at feeding the community through the Harmony Homestead Farm CSA and market sales. Each year there is also a focus on food preservation and value added food production from the ongoing harvest (i.e. canning, jellies, sauces etc.).
*JOB: We are seeking a qualified gardener/crew leader interested in partnering with the farm for a share of market sales.
*INTERNSHIPS: We are seeking farm/garden interns with a shared passion willing to commit to a minimum of 10 weeks on the farm. We will have up to 4 openings.
2.) Infrastructure- We continue construction on the new Farm Center building which was erected last season and awaits more interior and exterior carpentry and finishing.
*INTERNSHIPS: We have opportunities here for 2 interns interested in farm construction including working under supervision with the saw mill and most facets of construction. Must be willing to commit to a minimum of 10 weeks on the farm .
3.) School Of Life- We are accepting applications for enrollment in the School of Life. Sessions are available beginning in April.
