Lost Valley is an educational center and aspiring ecovillage located on
87 rural acres in the foothills of Oregon's Cascade Mountains. We
combine the exploration of sustainability and ecological consciousness
with an emphasis on permaculture, interpersonal communication, and
community. Our signature programs include Ecovillage Design Certification, Permaculture Design Certification,
and Natural Building as well as
various other educational workshops, events, and conferences.
We are also delighted to offer our "Work to Learn" program. Blending the work study and internship formats, students sign an employee contract and learn on the job in areas such as gardening, marketing, kitchen, maintenance, and education. After working and experiencing the community lifestyle here for 4.5 months, students have earned one of our 5 week courses. Students can sign up for one or two of these 6 month cycles.
For people curious about us, we have several visitor days and overnights every month. Visitors that cannot make these dates work can also sign up for self guided experiences both for the day and by renting tent sites or rooms. Please find out more about all these options at www.lostvalley.org

Dear to whom this may concern, I am very interested in permaculture and sustainable living. I would love nothing more than to come and learn at your farm over the summer. I am 21, mature, strong able-bodied man who truly feels that the most important skill to have in our day and age is the knowledge of sustainability. Is there any chance I could come and give an extra hand to your farm over the summer or possibly longer? Last summer I spent a month in Costa RIca on an organic farm and loved it extremely and want to keep getting more experience in the future. Hope to hear from you soon, Alex Grau
I completed my two-month Ecovillage and Permaculture Design Certification course at LVEC in 2005, and I still (in 2012) draw every day from things I learned there. So much love for this place and the extended network of inspirational people it has created in my world!
