We are currently 4 queer identified women residents, plus a family of
three part time residents, living on 46 gorgeous, partly wooded acres
near the scenic Rogue River and not far from Grants Pass/Ashland Oregon.
We have a small organic garden for household consumption, some fruit
trees, cob greenhouse and artists studios. We are artists, musicians,
farmers, natural builders interested in sustainability, community,
activism, permaculture and good times. Our livestock consists of a few
cats, a few dogs, and a small flock of chickens.
We are seeking engaged, respectful, motivated, fun-loving women to
help out with creative enjoyable labor. We invite volunteers during the
months of June through September, for stays as short as two weeks to as
long as all season. We ask for about 30 hours a week with help on
various projects (building, pond making, tree planting, gardening,
harvesting, wild crafting, land and house maintenance, etc.) We ask
volunteers to camp, and to contribute $25 per week toward grocery fund.
We're happy to pick folks up from the local airport or Greyhound
station. We ask that you not bring pets or children during you WOOF
stay, although we love both. We have shared kitchen and bathrooms,
laundry, and limited but available internet access. We eat everything,
mostly organic, and can accommodate vegetarians and vegans. We speak
English and Dutch and tiny bits of sign language and Spanish. We’re
queer-friendly. Fair Warning: at Gypsy Café we work, laugh, drink, smoke
and carouse, play lots of music, and occasionally howl at the moon.
Please get in touch and tell us something about yourself!
We play as hard as we work. We are 10 miles from the wild and scenic
rouge river, with a sweet swimming hole nearby, and 2 hours from the
redwoods and the stunning Oregon coast

The Mission of The Gypsy Café Community
The Gypsy Café is a
land-based intentional community committed to ecological and feminist values, with
a mission to foster creative and artistic expression and land
stewardship—permaculture principles, natural building, homesteading,
sustainability—and to provide space for collaboration and skills sharing in
these areas. The Gypsy Café is an inclusive and welcoming community, engaged in mutual
respect, kindness and support, with open, honest communication. Our group decisions are made
using consensus. We are committed to constant improvement and growth in all aspects of
