This is a scenic beautiful home with a very large residential organic garden that can be considered as farm land in the forest owned by a university professor who previously taught at California State University for many years and who now teaches in Turkey. The new house complex consists of a single story home and a separate duplex(two story home) with very large windows all over the house and with a broad mountain view stretching miles and miles and it offers a decent standard of living. Although the farm area looks and feels remote with a sense of privacy it is only 2 miles from the center of a small town with a population of 3600 and it is only 40 miles from the big and modern city of Denizli that has a a population of half a million. Organic agriculture volunteers are expected to work only for about 4 hours or less a day and the work is flexible according to the preferences of the guests. Room and cooking materials and food ingredients are provided and the guests will stay in the new two story duplex home. This is like a comfortable vacation. College students or college age students are preferred but this is not a must. This is a place where you will enjoy a sense of freedom in a clean and natural area. However,the farm area is alcohol free, pork free and free of illegal drugs. It is not a place for girl friend/boy friend relationship for unmarried people. Singles with decent behaviour and married couples are welcome. Cigarette smoking is possible outside the houses. Profiles with pictures are preferred. The land has vineyards, various fruit trees, pine trees, etc. and various agricultural crops such as wheat, tomatoes, etc. can be planted. It is a pretty safe, clean and tranquile area and it looks like a semi vacation resort. The house garden or farm is about 31 acres (12.5 hectares or 125 donum). Availibility starts 08/15/2012.
The farm help operations may include planting crops, trees, irrigating the crops or harvesting crops, taking care of soil and fruit trees, strengthening the fences , maintaining and constructing small roads/trails etc. You can choose the type of job that appeals to you. This farm is quite new and a motivated individual can also be involved in coordinating all the organic agricultural activities in the farm and act like the farm developer and director if he/she wishes . Sadik Cokelez is a very kind professor just getting reunited with his hometown which is where the farm is located. Since I visited in the winter there was not much growing going on. My days were spent pruning in a beautiful valley surrounded by mountains and pine trees. The farm is very young in producing much yield so there is a lot of opportunity for any eager volunteer. I would have liked to stay longer or wish I came in the spring but due to my job I could not. However, if you are able to come here in the spring with growing vegetables on your mind and eating the best grapes ever, you will have a wonderful experience.Volunteer accommodations are very comfortable and the host is very kind. He is great at introducing you to Turkish culture. This is my last day here and I recommend this farm. Especially to someone who knows a lot about organic agriculture as you will be spending a lot of your time alone (or bring a friend!!!) and be able to make your own decisions on cultivating, growing, harvesting etc.
