We are located in the rainforest mountains of western Puerto Rico. Here, on 30 acres, we have a vegetarian guesthouse. We are surrounded by another 100 acres of trails and roads. There are many waterways and waterfalls in the area.
We would like our volunteers to help us with:
GARDENING
organic gardening - we have a small site started, but need more
planting and caring for other crops - such as fruit trees and coffee
caring for our ornamentals - we grow many types of gingers and heliconias, and other ornamental plants.
ANIMAL CARE
We have two horses and would like someone to feed and groom them. Experience not essential. They also need to be ridden more often and there are wonderful trails here for that.
We also have dogs, cats and birds.
We would like someone to take over the animal care for us.
GUESTHOUSE RELATED
Kitchen help would be fantastic, also cleaning and serving guests is helpful. we cook all styles of vegetarian food, including vegan and rawfood.
If you have skills such as yoga or massage, we can put them to use.
CONSTRUCTION AND ENERGY
We would like to construct more cabins, possibly using some local materials, such as bamboo and rammed earth. We would also like to develop our potential for alternative energy.
ART
We have a little studio space and would like to continue adding studios, for our own use and for use by guests.
Any talents in this area would be appreciated.
We hope to find two people, who can keep each other company, since we are a bit out of the way. These would be non-smoking, quiet, responsible, cheerful, flexible and energetic, in good physical condition.
At present, we would house volunteers in a tent encampment, with bathroom and cooking facilities. Workers might then help to construct an apartment or cabin to live in.
There is a possibility of earning some money, just pocket change at this point, but it could develop into more.
We would need our workers to be financially independent, although room and board are provided.
Right now, we see this as a part-time job, with days off.
We are looking for people who can stay a minimum of 3 month, hopefully much longer.
We can offer occasional transportation to beaches and shopping, etc.
