Apprenticeships and Employment are Available for the 2011 Season!
Apprenticeship and hourly employment are available.
Apprenticeship on Burning River Farm is an working/learning experience best suited for those whom are interested in owning or operating a locally based vegetable farm in the future. The goal through the season is to grow exceptional, nutritious, clean food, and to improve the quality of the soil for the following season. Aspects of this type of farming will be covered within the perimeters of the season itself. This includes, but is not limited to greenhouse production for transplants, weed management, harvest (lots of harvest!), CSA, farmers market, direct sales, soil management, and how to make a living farming. We make efforts to ensure that this is a learning opportunity for apprentices. However, this is mostly a working position (that's where the real learning is!). A serious interest in farming as a means to making a living is strongly recommended. Applicants must be able to do physical work through the week. Also important are a positive attitude, ability to adapt, and the desire to work efficiently. These positions provide room, board and a decent stipend. To learn more about apprenticeship, please contact the farm.
Hourly work is also available. These positions are 24 hours a week and mostly entail assisting with harvest and weeding throughout the season. Pay starts at $7.25 for hourly employees.
