A small flock of 10 chickens work the gardens and provide us with fresh eggs each day. There are multiple garden spaces here on the farm from raised beds, bucket garden systems, to fields for tomatoes and garlic. There are also berries, fruit trees, flowers and herbs. We are dedicated to using organic and natural methods here on the farm. Only natural organic materials are added to the land and gardens such as goat, chicken, and duck poop, sea kelp, minerals, fish emulsions, green mulches, etc.... We are currently looking one or two honest, hardworking, patient, gentle spirited, warm hearted Wwoofers who have an absolute passion for working with children, farm animals, and nature. You will need to consent to a criminal history check as we also do foster care and the state of Oregon requires this for any one staying on the farm with us.  I would like at least a 2-3 week commitment. But longer stays are welcome.I am in need of 2-3 people to start the first of May who would enjoy working along with our family in the gardens, tending to the farm animals, helping assist with cooking meals together, helping with housework, and doing projects together with the children here each day, as well as working on projects to get ready to open Mother Earth's Farm School. We believe in the essential beauty of every person. We want to create an environment wherein the individual can have its full blossoming, to pursue its full potential. Instead of sacrificing the individual for the whole, rather we believe the greatest whole is formed from fully blossomed individuals.COMMUNITY- We have to begin to use resources more wisely. We all have the same needs, and we believe that sharing is not only necessary but is preferable. If we work together to build sustainable food and housing systems, our needs are fulfilled with a minimum amount of effort. Projects such as a community garden, permaculture food systems, individual housing, community workshops, sustainable power systems can be most easily accomplished when we work together, in turn bringing our own needs back into our own hands, like the Amish work ethic, but without funny clothes, the lack of humor and sarcasm, and without repression.INDIVIDUALITY- Because we are encouraging the fullness of the Individual, we want to build small, tight knit intentional communities that are connected on a larger scale through communication, sharing, friendship, work parties, fun parties, etc. to pool even more labor and resources, to encourage education and viable permanent alternatives to a commodity and currency based society. We are not looking to separate ourselves, but to grow alongside. This is not apocalyptic, and we are not trying to look to the end, or 'save ourselves'; we are looking for creative new ways of living on and with this planet. Initially we are looking to start small, to see if other people are interested in making this a reality. We want to do this not just for ourselves, but to learn how to teach others.. We wish to help create an alternative to a society which does not represent the values or meet the needs of a large number of us.At the moment we are trying to figure out the best balance of the number of people to the amount of land, where everyone has enough space for their own plots, and enough shared communal space for a center (for Skillshare, folk skills and crafts), a workshop, to foster a practical, education based environment. We want to keep each person making a realistic initial monetary investment. Anyone can teach and anyone can learn. Initially we are thinking +/- 10 people and +/- 20 acres, but we want to start a dialogue and see who's up for what. At the moment we have started a 5-acre experimental plot with off-the-grid power and water, and the beginnings of a permaculture food system.. Colorado's oldest organic farm is for sale, est 1974. We hope to sell it to a group who would like to build a farm-based ecovillage on the farm. Does that sound like you? maybe? Wayne, the farm's owner/farmer, is ready to retire. you could learn a lot by coming out this year. There are 20 acres of fruit trees...plus so much more to learn. Sam 'n James, Your post sounds very similar to our own philosophies and hopes of putting them into practice. We've been focusing our land hunting energy on the mountainous region along the California/Oregon border but are open to exploring other parts of the west, provided there is an adequate supply of water available. We have met a couple folks along the way interested in pooling resources toward the goal of some sort of shared land-ownership but as of yet, no specific parcel, nor group of individuals. We're open to purchasing land on our own but recognize the many benefits of working with others. We'd Love to discuss the possibilities with you in greater details. Very small, very quiet, living/growing situation, must be built from the ground up.  You would be very capable of carpentry, organic growing, and able to sustain your own income.  (Either a part time job, work from home, or be creative and make products for the Farmers' Markets.)  We would be learning together.  This is rustic situation, the land is mostly sand, but trees provide leaf compost, and that is where we start.  Lots of old growth cedars that are past their prime, could be carefully selected for building, priority being a nice sized greenhouse.  If you are free, love projects, and are very good with animals, there is unlimited potential.  Near Austin, Elgin, Bastrop.  Male or female, single preferred but still open to couples.  This would be a long-term mutually beneficial arrangement.  Reward is found in accomplishment.  It's all about the journey.  Brave at heart, sincere in intent, love fun and campfires, please write Cissy at cissyblue555@gmail.com
