Hi! I'm new to Grow Food but would love to find a farm to intern on if there are any available! I'm 22 and looking for wherever I can go to learn and work
Hello Jon, Be in touch if you are still looking for a special place for the coming season. We are in Colorado and USDA organic. Lots to learn and do here.
The Youth Garden Project has opportunities in both the Spring (beginning as early as March!) and Summer. We are a small community-based educational garden/farm. We do a lot with youth as well as with other parts of our community. We facilitate the local Farmers' Market, have a CSA, community Weed n' Feed nights, and more! Please head to our website http://www.youthgardenproject.org for more info on us and the internships we are offering (you can also look on our profile on this site)! We would love to hear from you for spring!
We have openings from April - September with flexible schedules. We're in the Foothills of North Carolina, an hour from Asheville. Check out our page or message us for more information.
Hello Jon! We have internships available at our farm starting as early as February. We are a diverse, organic farm that produces vegetables, fruit, honey, maple syrup, grass-fed chickens/beef, and a number of products produced from recycled materials such as old barn boards and tractor tires. We have a new farm store and participate in farmers' markets which both allow for in depth interaction with the consumer.
We really try to be as flexible as possible with our interns. If you enjoy gardening or working with the animals then we will try to keep you around the farm. If you instead enjoy working at the farm store and interacting with consumers then we will try to keep you there as much as possible. We also do our best to make sure that you are doing as much learing as working and understand the principles that guide us with our work.
Reneweable energy is also a big part of our farm. We have a biodiesel facility that produces tractor fuel from soybeans and we utilize solar for a number of applications. The owner has a degree in renewable energy and sustainability and it always looking for new ways to lessen the farm's dependence on nonrenewables.
Check out our farm's profile if you are interested. You can reach me by email at mcneafm05@gmail.com or by phone at 607 846 1200. Best luck with securing an internship!
