We have hosted over 70 interns at our farm over the past 10 years. .  Know that Ploughshare Farm is well known for the quality of vegetables and as a successful CSA model.

  • Gary Brever is one of Minnesota’s leading authorities on organic

farming and was honored by the Minnesota Jaycees with the

Farm legislation. He also was a recent, featured guest on Lynne

Rossetto Kasper’s The Splendid Table.

  • Established in 2002 and named “Edible Twin Cities” Local Hero in the Best Farm / Farmer category, Ploughshare Farm has a long history of growing a wide variety of organic vegetables and some fruits on 160 acres of fertile soil bordering the Chippewa River in Central Minnesota.

We gained reputation through hard work and dedication and this is precisely what will be taught in the internship.  The season ends up being some of the hardest work any of our interns have ever experienced.   However, the knowledge they gain about growing along with the personal growth that occurs during the season ends up being a pivotal point in many of our interns’ lives.  These experiences they take into the future no matter if they go onto a career in agriculture or not.

The "Second in Command" had a very thick Russian accent that was very difficult to understand.  If a detailed question was needed to ask I was screwed.  Other interns had difficult, one had a month of frustration with trying to understand her.  Come ready to be a good guesser or have some experience. Lots of available produce for use.  Yurt bedrooms nicely furnished. Nice community kitchen. Pigs, Cows and Chickens raised for meat.
