An alternative spanish school where you can learn while you work on community projects.
Most people come to Peru in search of a mystical paradise and the tourism industry works very hard to provide that false paradise. In Guadalupe you will gain a perspective of how Peruvians live outside of major tourist destinations. It is a perfect place to learn Spanish because there are so few English speakers.
Our program is an alternative to costly language schools that don´t use the money to benefit the people of Perú.
You stay with a family in Guadalupé, Peru and learn spanish through immersion and dialog. You can also have two hours of more formal leasons a day. We will also help you get involved in local projects or start your own as a way to learn spanish. You can work on our home garden or start projects like community gardens, theatre groups, art for kids, community composting etc. Basically, you decide what you´re interested in and we help you get involved. The whole time you will be learning spanish at your own pace. In most conventional language schools you spend 8 hours a day in a classroom and don´t have time to get involved in the communtiy.
Currently there is a project to establish a permaculture garden in the local highschool. We need someone with permaculture or any kind of gradening experience to help carry on the project.
Guadalupé is town in the north of Perú, in between Chiclayo and Trujillo. It is surrounded by rice fields and is riddled with environmental problems. It is in desperate need of permaculture. That is why we are starting this project.
The net profits of the language school will be used to buy land and fund a more permanent permaculture school.
