Sustainable Settings is a research and demonstration 501 c3 non-profit organization designed to focus community life around meaningful and environmentally sustainable practices. We are a small-scale diversified farm on 240 acres with 90 irrigated acres. The market garden supplies heirloom, organic vegetables and herbs to the Aspen Farmer's market, a small CSA and the ranch store. We host a range of heritage breed livestock that produce meat and eggs and raw dairy products. Sustainable Settings' programs focus on developing the demonstration site-- a working farm, market garden, waste treatment systems, sustainable cultivated landscape and native habitat restoration, models of local economic stability, educational programming in ecological literacy and consulting in Permaculture and green building/ development. We educate a volunteers, professionals, community members, college students, adult interns and Pre-K through highschool students. We offer residential internships, mentor/apprenticeships, workshops, school programs and volunteer projects. Intern projects range from livestock management, land management, growing our organic produce, green building and renewable energy , culinary arts and community development.
