The Ohero organic Farm which covers five acres of land was begun as a community demonstration farm by our group KORAYO FRIENDS OF HEALTH and consortium of six villages within Korayo Sub- Location in Homa-Bay County to set example that improved Agriculture can be a sure source of livelihood. The farm is situated in a region with low and unpredictable rainfall .Agriculture is viewed by the populace as a total failure. Youths roaming around in the villages with quite negative attitude about agriculture .Older males migrate from our villages leaving behind plenty of un utilized land, for search of employment in cities. To many in this region agriculture is viewed as an old colonial practice that never pays back. Ohero Organic Farm, where we grow cabbages ,onions, tomatoes, ginger ,potatoes, radishes, pumpkins, sweetcorn, sweet peas, mushrooms, carrots, cucumbers, chili, broccoli, capsicum, turnips and garlic has been proven beyond any reasonable doubt that organic farming is the only sure way to better agriculture and save lives in an area such as this where poverty, illiteracy, hunger and diseases is immense. We are in the look out for those volunteers who are able to soil their hands together with us as they help with their expertise in organic farming to help improve our services on this farm which helps educate a population of six villages or 2800 house holds. During the stay of the volunteers, we will provide them with food and accommodation. Round trip Air ticket and in country fares shall be taken care of by the volunteers. Our domestic drinking water is not trusted 100% and it would be important for the volunteers to carry some cash for Bottled mineral water for drinking. Our region also is mosquito prone and we will make sure that the volunteers sleep under treated nets. We also have OVC Center 20Km away from the garden called Great Start OVC Center. We also have home-based care program me where by we have over 50 (PLWA) People Living With Aids with whom we councell and show love to the people of God it is a kind of work that needs the grace of God.We are in the search of volunteers who may be willing to help us doing this great work

HI! I have always wanted to go to Africa, I have experience working on farms. Weeding, transplanting, mulching, etc. I love working with the earth. I have a lot of love to give and always want to help make a difference. Do you still need help?
