Casitas Tenorio and Farm is a small farm in rural Costa Rica owned and operated by Donald Varela and Pip Kelly. We are a Costa Rican/Australian couple passionate about community rural tourism, community development, sustainability, ecologically responsible travel and organic farming. Casitas Tenorio and Farm is located in Northern Costa Rica on the slopes of Volcano Tenorio. We are 2km from the town of Bijagua close to the famous blue river Rio Celeste (which is in the Volcano Tenorio National Park). Our farm is 17 acres and we have domestic animals including horses, cows and chickens. We engage in organic agriculture and plant many different types of vegetables and fruits during the year. We also have remnant rainforest that is home to monkeys, sloths, toucans and a wide variety of bird species.

We offer accommodation and activities for tourists and volunteer opportunities on the farm or within the local community. Tasks including working with cows and horses, organic gardening, reforestation, biodiversity inventories and planting and maintenance of various crops. We accept volunteers for short and long term stays (one week-six months). We offer under cover camping accommodation on the farm or home-stays with local families for a small fee. Volunteers work approx. 6 hrs per day. There are many great things and places to discover in the local area. Please contact us directly for more information.

Come and experience authentic rural Costa Rica at its best! www.casitastenorio.com
