We are starting a sustainable farm in Deer Island, OR. which is situated an hour north of Portland. There are 30+ raised beds for organic produce. We are trying to add more berries & fruit trees as we go along. We also are raising some chicks & Indian Runner ducks for eggs. There are 6 alpacas & 2 mini bunnies for fertilizer & pets. We are weaning 3 dwarf Nigerian goats that will eventually give us dairy. We have some grape vines & a large greenhouse. Someone to help us keep up with all the chores & help work on a new project here & there would be ideal.

i am in north carolina. i would like a chance to work on a farm that will provide room and board. i have never worked on a farm before but i worked in produce section of a grocery store for 3 years. i am a quick learner and hard worker. i would love to learn the skills for sustainable living. on my off time i would like to be able to take pictures of landscape, wildlife, and other animals. i love photography and travel but lack the means to do so. if you also offer a stipend and long term work..that would be more preferable. thx for reading ;)
Herbschool starts next month!Roots of Herbalism, a 60-hr course introducing students to constitutional western herbal medicine, will be held at the ELK Center in June. There are half-worktrade spots still available. This year's worktrade will include stonemasonry, as well as the usual goat herding! Let me know if you are interested. -- Laurel
We are working on building our fourth hoop house. Currently we are planting cabbage outside and tomatoes in the hoop houses. We have openings available for interns.
Hello everyone! I currently live in central Virginia, but I am interested in helping on a farm anywhere in the West or Northeast. I'm a college student looking for a change of air during the summer. I am available from now till the end of July. My experience with farm work is sparse but my motivation to learn and hard work isn't! Anything relating to food is of great interest to me and I can cook and bake form scratch. I have little money and only carry my ability to work, thus I would prefer if some sort of room and board were provided, but I am very flexible. I hope to hear back!
